Dr. Joseph O’Connell is a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Westport, Connecticut at Plastic Surgery of Southern Connecticut, L.L.C. Dr. O’Connell believes that the aesthetic goal with all relaxers and fillers is a natural, youthful, rested, healthy look. “No one should know that the patient was ever in my office.” With relaxers, the goal is optimal correction of wrinkling without completely eliminating subtle facial expression and animation in treated areas. “A frozen face is a giveaway that you’ve had too much Botox.” Dr. O’Connell will carefully examine your face, especially brow shape, and tailor the use of the relaxer to you. “Sometimes we modify brow shape and position and sometimes we don’t.” With fillers the goal is again a natural, rested appearance without appearing “overly corrected.” Lips should still look like lips (not sausages) with preservation of the natural aesthetic landmarks and a crisp, well-defined, white roll.
Dr. O’Connell tailors a conservative, cost-effective filler program for each and every patient to optimize correction and long-term maintenance of the result. He prefers to use smaller filler volumes over time to give the appearance that facial aging has greatly slowed rather than create peaks and valleys in your facial aging. His goal is a long term relationship between plastic surgeon and patient to maintain a natural, long-term correction of facial aging in the least invasive and most cost-effective way possible..
Dr. O’Connell integrates medical skin care, microdermabrasion, intense pulsed light therapy and more traditional surgical approaches into each patient’s relaxer and filler program to optimize their aesthetic results and to help them attain their aesthetic goals.
